We visited Birbeck University and met professionals who work in the creative and media industry. We asked a couple of questions to each of the people that we met.
BBC representative: Phillip Thomas who is the recruitment manager for news/sports/audio music/radio/TV and online.
I learnt that he worked in this position for 7 years till now and he said that you have to be a great communicator and team player in order to do well at the job.
We also met Kumar Kamalagharan who is a tour manager for the band Razorlight. Kumar started off by booking for gigs and then he got employed as first assistant. He then worked his way up to becoming a director of touring for 'Fruit Pie Music'.
His job:
· He manages the budget for the tour
· He employs crew for sound and lighting
· He organizes transport, hotel bookings for the crew and the band
